To all those who are sitting out there, hanging about the sidelines, I would like to ask you to join the discussion. From the looks of things, we have many members who "check in" from time-to-time, but who do not contribute. Nick has done a masterful job of providing this easy-to-use Forum for discussion of Theosophy and related ideas, and I, for one, am thankful for his efforts. Please add your thoughts as you are able to keep this Forum alive and well! I ask this not for my own Postings, but for all the work that has gone into this Forum over the years. There may be---nota bene, may be---more exciting platforms for discussion, but you will find none more amenable and personal than this one. Please join in! Refute my pitiful ideas if you want, but JOIN IN!

Hey Jim and Andrew,

Let's start a thread to discuss all of the concepts in Theosophy. (It could take years to get through all such topics....)

Nick and Andrew,
It would be interesting to know of the means of production or economics, in say the Atlanteans; and if played a part in the support or fall of races. I believe that this is especially important, at this stage of our development as a race; in such a overwhelming material world.

Jim,

I do not remember seeing anything in Theosophical literature about Atlantean economics. Unfortunately, HPB had acces to a LOT of information, and she could not write it all down. It has been said that if HPB had written about all she had access to, the books would have filled many libraries. Obviously, she had to be conservative about the amount of information she wrote about, so she only gave us information that mainly concerned gthe spiritual development of humans on earth.

For me, the main thing about the Fourth Race (The Atlanteans) is that they left the huge (life-size to them) statues on Easter Island. Here are a couple of quotes on the subject:

“The Easter Island relics are, for instance, the most astounding and eloquent memorials of the primeval giants. They are as grand as they are mysterious; and one has but to examine the heads of the colossal statues, that have remained unbroken on that island, to recognize in them at a glance the features of the type and character attributed to the Fourth Race giants.” (SD vol 2 p 224)

“Easter Island was ... taken possession of ... by some Atlanteans; who, having escaped from the cataclysm which befell their own land, settled on that remnant of Lemuria only to perish thereon, when destroyed in one day by its volcanic fires and lava.” (SD vol 2 p 326)

“...most of the gigantic statues discovered on Easter Island, a portion of an undeniably submerged continent — as also those found on the outskirts of Gobi, a region which had been submerged for untold ages — are all between 20 and 30 feet high. The statues found by Cook on Easter Island measured almost all twenty-seven feet in height, and eight feet across the shoulders.” (SD vol 2 p 331)

“The Easter Isles in ‘mid Pacific’ present the feature of the remaining peaks of the mountains of a submerged continent, for the reason that these peaks are thickly studded with Cyclopean statues, remnants of the civilization of a dense and cultivated people, who must have of necessity occupied a widely extended area.” (SD vol 1 p 322)

“ ‘Even at the date of Cook’s visit, some of the [Easter Island] statues, measuring 27 feet in height and eight across the shoulders were lying overthrown, while others still standing appeared much larger. One of the latter was so lofty that the shade was sufficient to shelter a party of thirty persons from the heat of the sun. The platforms on which these colossal images stood averaged from thirty to forty feet in length, twelve to sixteen broad. . . . all built of hewn stone in the Cyclopean style, very much like the walls of the Temple of Pachacamac, or the ruins of Tia-Huanuco in Peru.... THERE IS NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT ANY OF THE STATUES HAVE BEEN BUILT UP, BIT BY BIT, BY SCAFFOLDING ERECTED AROUND THEM’ — adds the journal very suggestively — without explaining how they could be built otherwise, unless made by giants of the same size as the statues themselves.” (SD vol 2 p 337)

The civilization of Atlantis
Main article: Atlantis
During long period of time when Atlantis was ruled by the Toltecs (the ancestors of the Amerindians), the civilization of Atlantis was at its height. This was the period between about 1,000,000 and 900,000 years ago, called the Golden Age of Atlantis. The Atlanteans had many luxuries and conveniences. Their capital city was called The City of the Golden Gates. At its height, it had two million inhabitants. There were extensive aqueducts leading to the city from a mountain lake. The Atlanteans had airships powered by the vril that could seat two to eight people. The economic system was socialist like that of the Incas. Atlanteans were the first to develop organized warfare. The military deployed vril-powered air battleships that contained 50 to 100 fighting men. These air battleships deployed poison gas bombs. The infantry fired fire-tipped arrows. The Toltecs on Atlantis worshipped the Sun in temples as grand as those of ancient Egypt that were decorated in bright colors. The sacred word used in meditation was Tau (this was the equivalent of the Aryan sacred word Om). As noted above, the Toltecs colonized all of North America and South America and thus became the people we know as the Amerindians. [12] The downfall of Atlantis started when some of the Toltecs began to practice black magic about 850,000 BC. The people began to become selfish and materialistic. Soon thereafter, the Turanians (the ancestors of the people we now know as the Turkic peoples) became dominant in much of Atlantis. The Turanians continued the practice of black magic which reaches its height about 250,000 BC and continued until the final sinking of Atlantis, although they were opposed by white magicians. The Master Morya incarnated as the Emperor of Atlantis in 220,000 BC to oppose the black magicians. [13] The black magicians used magical spells to breed human-animal chimeras to use as sex slaves. They also had an army composed of chimeras that were composites that were composed of a human body with the heads of fierce predators such as lions, tigers, and bears, that ate enemy dead on the battlefied. [14] The war between the white magicians and the black magicians continued until the end of Atlantis. The Masters of the Ancient Wisdom telepathically warned their disciples (the white magicians) to flee Atlantis in ships while there was still time to get out before the final cataclysm. As noted above, the final sudden submergence of Atlantis due to earthquakes occurred in 9,564 BC . [2]

Thanks for the two links. I believe it is posible to advance beyond the "predatory phase" Also, that this will not happen till the excessive capitalism has found its demise. Ofcouse this will be a dialectical advancement. Capitalism serves this purpose.

I have found also, that "free and unhindered discussion of these problems has come under a powerfull taboo."

Thanks, Jim
