mensagitat,

I like to define Prakriti as "matter" and Mulaprakriti as "pre-matter." I also like Geoffrey Barborka's definition of Mulaprakriti as "pre-cosmic pre-matter." Pre-cosmic means "matter" that "exists" while universes appear and disappear (and exists continually during the time period between universes). To me, the appearance of Prakriti is the appearance of a new universe.

There is one more problem with the terms Brahmâ and Brahma. A copy of the book The Secret Doctrine is online.

http://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/sd/sd-hp.htm

Unfortunately, that copy of the SD has stripped away all diacritical marks, making every example of Brahmâ look like Brahma. This hopelessly confuses anyone who tries to read the online version of the SD.

I wonder if Brahman, denoting neuter and masculine, mitigates the conceptual dissociation --I only wanted to try out that last phrase for fun, don't really know if it is appropriate to the context-- arriving out of the missing accent mark.

I'm suspecting male and female are terms relative to the manner in which we currently propagate.

I really find myself at a loss to comprehensively describe Brahman. I suppose I would go on about the Circle which has no boundaries.

Yet, Brahma is the sheath for Brahman. There is Brahma (Vach) and Brahma (Viraj), and Brahma possesses both Prakriti and Mulaprakriti, evolved and unevolved substance. Of course, Purusha and time are aspects as well.

"Savoir Frere" is everywhere. I'm thinking bipolar forces with a dielectric aether is better than utilizing male and female as terms. Separate individual genders, according to Theosophy, began in the Third Root-Race and continues to... where/when? I am unsure on that. This does give me a strong indication that separate genders might be a relatively brief aspect within the Human Condition of experiencing/emanating/evolving/aspiring toward perfect harmony within the Spheres.

Most of the above was my paraphrasing based upon the definition of Brahma found at the same site I provided a link-to in my previous post.
