Hi everybody!

I want to thank Bill (aka Django), from Texas, for sugesting this sub-forum, where we tell what Theosophical book, etc., we are reading.

I am presently reading Man, Whence, How and Wither, by Annie Besant & Charles Leadbeater.

I must admit, before I started reading the book, I thought it was going to be pretty dumb. However, it has turned out to be a very good book.

I am not saying I believe everything in the book. However, I have found it a fascinating history of the human race, from its very inception. Whether you believe the story or not, you will not find this explanation of the beginning of the human race anywhere else. (Or are there other books like this I am not aware of...?)

I found one idea particularly interesting -- the way our causal bodies were brought over from the previous planet, where we were the animals. The authors talk about how we had been restng in an "inter-chain Nirvana." What a fascinating concept! I had never heard that term before.

I was also impressed by how hard the Manu of the fifth root-race has been working to build up his fifth root-race. I guess I have always visualized the Manu as kind of sitting on a throne, watching the whole thing happen. Not anymore. the book characterizes the Manu as having worked tirelessly for thousands of years, to build up the root-race to where it is today.

I am always amazed when I hear of early humans referred to as "pudding bags". HPB used that term herself, didn't she? Does anyone have that quote?
