Hello beautiful darlings. :)
My name is Polli, I am a 20 year old female, living in Sydney.
For as long as I can remember my fascination has been directed towards the study of religion, occult, mysticism and witchcraft. It’s been a wonderful journey with many realizations, profound insights and blissful communions with the divine which has always been there no matter what practice I’ve chosen to employ. This life’s course has left me to believe that all religions hold many great truths with no set in stone paradigms but imperative ideas and thoughts to reflect upon (which we as humans decide to use and/or discard depending on our preference and personal beliefs).
It is this belief that brought me here and I am grateful for an opportunity to participate and be part of this lovely community. :)
Hi, Polli, and wlecome to the Forum!
It's sounds like you have had quite a ride through the world of alternative religion. Good for you!
I do not know how familiar you are with Theosophy, but you will find it is a full (and often-times complicated) philosophy. I like Theosophy because it has answers I cannot find anywhere else. I also feel that Theosophy makes absolute, perfect, logical sense. I cannot find a flaw in its logic whatsoever.
Theosophy is basically a list of hundreds of different concepts. Feel free to check out the many concepts. See which of them do and do not fit into your personal belief system. There are many threads on all kinds of topics. Feel free to jump into any thread you think is interesting.
It sounds like you may have had some interesting alternative religious experiences. Feel free to share your experiences. It will be interesting to see how your experiences fit the Theosophical philosophical theory. After all, Theosophy is only a theory, and we always wonder how well it actually fits reality.
Thank you for a warm welcome!:)
I am actually quite new to Theosophy and came across it just recently. We first met (so to speak :) ) when I was exploring the many spiritual paths to try and find that which fits me perfectly. I wasn’t able to fulfil this yearning simply due to the fact that all religions seemed to hold some sort of truth in them, a deeper underlying wisdom which intervened throughout the many traditions I’ve had a privilege of exploring.
That is why I find myself drawn to Theosophy; it really does click with my own personal beliefs of being one with all that is, which invariably leads to acceptance of all race, creed, sex, castes or colour; the study of religion, philosophy, science and application of knowledge gained to ones’ thoughts, deeds and actions - because as Dr. Samuel Johnson once said "a man may be very sincere in good principles, without having good practice". But in that case, good principles (or theory) are worth nothing.” :)
Aumiel,
You said,
[Theosophy and I] "... first met (so to speak) when I was exploring the many spiritual paths to try and find that which fits me perfectly."
--> I, too, have checked out many different belief systems over the years. (I was even a Bahai for a while.) Unfortunately, I have always run into things in every religion I do not agree with. Fortunately, I have yet to find something in Theosophy I disagree with.
"I wasn’t able to fulfil this yearning simply due to the fact that all religions seemed to hold some sort of truth in them, a deeper underlying wisdom which intervened throughout the many traditions I’ve had a privilege of exploring."
--> All religions DO hold part of the truth. It is a basic Theosophical teaching that all religions come from a common source.
"That is why I find myself drawn to Theosophy; it really does click with my own personal beliefs of being one with all that is...."
--> I also think that, when someone "clicks" with Theosophy or any other philosophy, it is because they studied it in a previous life, and they are merely recognizing it from a previous lifetime. I think it is very possible you were a Theosophist in a previous life. If so, welcome back!
"...acceptance of all race, creed, sex, castes or colour...."
--> I think Theosophy does this better than any other philosophy.
