Title: Studying the Gottfried de Purucker series

Hello everybody

I have been reading the Gottfried de Purucker series at
http://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/ts/bio-gdep.htm

Currently studying the Fundamentals of the Esoteric Philosophy by Gottfried de Purucker. Who does a great job in explaining to us simple minded people of what the ancient Divine Wisdom that is in HPB Secret Doctrine is all about. :D

I am currently on Chapter 22 of the Fundamentals of the Esoteric Philosophy series. It is not exactly light reading you need to meditate, think and connect the dots so to speak in what you know concerning religions. Christianity comes to my mind since alot of the Roman Catholic Doctrine comes from the Ancient Doctrine but was distorted over time or for the purpose of the Roman Catholic church and latter the Protestors or Protestant Churchs.

The interesting part was he was explaining the initiation process or the quickening to blend your lower self with your higher divine self which is dangerous to an undeveloped mind since you either would die of a heart attack or some other problem due to extreme durress if your Heart is deceitfull, go mad and loose your mind or be successfull and the secrets and the glory that comes with it are yours. So the slow evolutionary path is probably better in the long run. But still the option is their for those who choose this path in this life or the next to accelerate the evolutionary development of yourself for the benifit of All of activating the inner divine being to become more active in your life and therefore be a shinning light in darkness unto men of lower status to show them their is hope in this strife filled world of ours. You can however make the inner divine self become more alive in your own life by your own self efforts and methods. I have personal experiance on this myself and let me tell you it is the most Wonderfull experiance of being connected to the divine that you can not put into words since this happened to me around the year 1980. It only last for a few days during this time I was filled with peace and my mind was very clear and focused. This has pretty much changed my life. But intiations are extremely difficult for the purpose of purification that is purging all defilements of ones heart before even attempting such a blending of your lower self to ones Higher Triad.

I have read other books on this subject of intiation. Purucker does mention initiation things such as the cross that the christians borrowed and latter became a symbol of capital punishment of the Romans that was part of the initiation process. I know for example of the biblical story of christ fasting for 40 days and 40 nights and latter being tempted by the devil is an actual intiation rite that most guys would have a very difficult time passing since you have to control your passions of lust in order to pass the test especially after having not eaten very much and of being to the point of being mentally and physically weak. Since during this time you had to study about the stars and other things to keep your mind alert in order to pass this terrible trial. This trial involved being surrounded by naked perfumed woman if you even touched these woman during your test you were escorted immediately out the building as an unworthy canditate for intiation. I think this is what jesus as an initiate had to pass as well as others in order to advance to the next trials in order to learn the Mysteries at the Egyptian Mystery school. The woman even tried their best at tempting or seducing the initiate to have sex (Tempted by the Devil) in order to get the initiate to fail the trial. If you successfully passed this trial it showed that you have mastery over your Passion of Lust which allowed you to move on to the next terrible trial. I guess at the time of the Egyptian Mystery schools the type of trials they used to test certain men to see if he was a worthy candiate to be intiated into the Mysteries seem kind of strange and difficult and even harsh but that was their way. The Jewish Talmud actually accuses that this Rabbi went to Egypt to learn magic. Although the Pyramids had chambers of intiation that each person had to pass through the many terrible trials to become an Adept. The Pyramids were not used to just bury dead Pharaohs maybe that is what they want us to believe.

Doug,

When I read your post, the first thing I thought about was the book Initiation by Elisabeth Haich.

http://www.amazon.com/Initiation-Elisabeth...75135319&sr=1-1

Have you heard of the book? In the book, Haich describes what a (Theosophy-style?) Initiation is like. Somehow, I had always thought of a Theosophy-style Initiation as being mostly a ceremony, with lots of congratulations, etc. Not according to Haich. In the (supposedly fiction) book, Haich's character undergoes an Initiation. But this Initiation is about facing all kinds of temptations -- sex, alcohol, whatever. The Initiatant must face all of these temptations and pass with flying colors.

By the way, in the book, Haich's charater fails the Initiation, and spends several subsequent lives just trying to get back to normal. Now, the book is supposed to be fiction, but it really got me thinking. (I am afraid I have a lot of work to do, before my Initiation in the distant future....)

By the way, Haich's book is not a Theosophical book at all. But it so connected to an important theme in Theosophy, I cannot help but think of it, when the topic of Initiations comes up.

Blavatsky et. all have always tried to warn us to give up physical cravings if we want to make serious progress along the Path. All of this talk about Initiations (as mainly a facing up to cravings) has made me rethink a lot of things.

Thanks Sovereign, I didn't know they were in text. I had listened in the past to a series of tapes. I will check out your link.

For most in the fourth round, its all about kama.

But to progress, to rise to the top of the heap, animal desire must be transmuted into compassion - desire for the greater good.

And indeed there are fifth rounders among us, setting the example.

I am not perfect either Nick, I am still a mortal in this life and probably the next life until through self effort with the help and inspiration of the Dhyan Chohans will help me succeed in raising this mortal body to an immortal body. Since this vessel that I am made of is full of holes to hold the glory of the divine it leaks.

We may fail many times in this life and fall flat on our face but their is always hope since we will have many more opportunities to climb higher and higher in each incarnation to raise this mortal and coruptable body to the immortal and incoruptable body. Each new life we will find ourself much closer to divinity and in a body fit for better perceptions to see behind the veil for ourself. Since matter is Maya by itself since that is what we see with our limited vision because we don't see the real cause of what produced that matter of effect with our 5 senses. Matter is not separate as they say since spirit is the cause and matter and spirit are one not separate. This I understand and accept as truth. But someday I will have won this right to see the Real Truth for myself in greater degrees.

No I have not Nick.

Have you heard of "The Secret in the Bible" by Tony Bushby in it he reveals a secret which relates the Great Pyramid to the Torah (22 hebrew letters) which is connected to the Tarot (22 Hebrew letters that were imbeded in a Deck of the Tarot of Arcana of 22 cards at one time).

http://www.subtleenergies.com/ormus/tw/2serpents.htm
There is an excerpt by Tony Bushby in explaining this mystery near the bottom of the page in relation to the crytalline capstone or Benben that was energized by the cosmic energy from the sun which he said aided the Initiation process for those to step up to a higher spiritual plane since this thing energised the Great Pyramid. Today the known location of this Benben is unknown. So the Great Pyramid has no capstone and is currently in idle mode and not fully energized.

He also gives out a detailed account of the initiation process in the Great Pyramid that had 22 chambers of trials and after the initiate passed all these trials then finally the secret is revealed to the initiate that is he gets to see the so called gods and learn the secret that their is life after death. The trials are probably one of your worst nightmares. They will try you as an individual in every possible way. They don't just test whether you can resist temptations they test your whole character and believe you me it is not a walk in the park for these initiates. These trials can break you if you dont have what it takes to master all these trials in order experiance the mysteries for yourself and learn the secret.

Tony Bushby is an Austrailan Author whose first book "Glimpses of Life beyond Death" with a unique collection of peoples encounter with the after life" or NDE's (Near Death Experiances). In it you could see for yourself that some of these people had an encounter with Dhyan Chohanic entities. Their was one account of Tony listening to an elderly ladys story of having an heart attack and was revived and startled by her experiance of the afterlife so she went to the catholic priest to speak to him about her experiance the priest said since you did not see jesus the devil must of tempted you. This pissed this woman off bigtime and she almost commited succide but didn't since Tony told her she was not crazy and since he believed her. This Got Tony Bushby Thinking why doesn't the so called church not have the answers to what this woman experianced of the afterlife. So he begin to investigate the Roman Catholic and Protesant History and took him many years. So He wrote another book called "The Bible Fraud" Concerning some secrets about the real identity of christ or who the heck he was and the Roman Churchs deception. It is controversial since he reveals Their were two people involved thats right he had an Evil Brother and he himself was a very spiritual Rabbi and became an adept. He was also Druid and a Essene. His Other book "The Crucifixtion of the Truth" and his New and most recent book "Twin Deception". Tony Bushby has alot of connections with secret societies all over the world. He leaves it up to the reader to decide for himself is this true or not.

Doug,

First of all, I was absolutely stunned when I took a look at that webpage you linked to. The page alludes to the ideas (1) that a caduceus

is a picture of what an atom actually looks like and (2) that Leadbeater and Besant were able to put diagrams of such atoms in their books.

Imagine, a caduceus is a picture of an atom!

You said,

"...with the help and inspiration of the Dhyan Chohans [I] will ... succeed in raising this mortal body to an immortal body.... "

--> What a wonderful way of summarizing the purpose of Theosophy.

"Matter is not separate as they say since spirit is the cause and matter and spirit are one not separate."

--> I am reminded of the phrase, physical matter is only lightning standing still.

You have pointed out similarities between Egyptian religion and the Ancient Wisdom. Blavatsky pointed out in The Secret Doctrine that Egyptian civilization was actually remnants of Atlantean civilization.

Regarding the deceptions the church has foistered on the public for selfish gain, all I can say is, it is a dark and ugly part of the history of our culture. Just recently, I was reading a passage by Blavatsky about book-burnings sponsored by the church....

As ugly as all of this is, it is inspiring to know that we are making progress, just as you described as "opportunities to climb higher". Many of us are climbing higher, and Theosophy has given explanations on how to do it that are clearer than any other I have come across.
