Title: Vanishing Thread
Nicholas - November 20, 2006 04:59 PM (GMT)
What happened to the thread I started under the new section The Path?

Nicholas,
I do not know what happened to it. I did not delete it. I doubt anyone has hacked their way in to Moderator, but you never know. I am wondering if other threads have also disappeared....
Do you remember the gist of your thread?
One other thing comes to mind. I have to delete spam threads from time to time. I strongly doubt I deleted yours when trying to delete a spam thread, but this is the only answer I can come up with, for a thread that disappeared for no reason.
I considered your Path thread to be one of the more valuable threads. The more we can talk about getting on the Path -- the true reason for Theosophy -- the better.

Nick,
It still exists under "Nicholas" topics:
http://theosophy-forum.com/index.php?showtopic=148&hl=The title is: Purposes & Key Elements of the Path...

Now that is wierd. I do not see how a thread can exist in one place and not in another. I will see what I can do to trick the system into "remembering" it in its rightful place.

More wierdness. I posted in the thread, and, sure enough, it reappeared from out of nowhere.

It seems to be back now?!
So you "replied" within "Nicholas topics" and it sprung up at The Path?
Nick the Pilot - November 20, 2006 11:24 PM (GMT)
Yes, all I did was reply and it came back. That tells me it was not a mistake nor a spammer. It was some kind of glitch in the software. That means the host server might go belly up soon....

I thought Id check on this forum before my last edits to my newsletter (you never know: there might be news) - and I had trouble getting here. So I would agree that your server is not the most reliable one.

I'm pretty sure I started a thread on psychology and the path or something, in the path section. Right now it isn't there either. So I guess we have to find it somewhere and resurrect it by posting in it? This is troublesome.

Hi everybody!
I have no idea why this is happening, but all the threads in the sub-forum called The Path ended up being "hidden" I am bumping them back into "visibility" as I find them. If anyone has any posts that have disappeared, let me know and I will bump those posts too.

Nick,
Is there some time-out function involved? After X number of days they fade away??
If you think a topic of yours vanished, go to your own old topics to find it. Then reply to the last post and it will pop up again.
This board does not list our old posts (just topics started by us) under our name like E-sangha does.

I have finally fixed the problem. As it turns out, each sub-forum iS set to disappear after so many days. (What a dumb idea....) I re-set it to never disappear, and that seems to have fixed it.
All of the other sub-forums were set to "never disappear" when I first set up the entire Forum. "The Path" sub-forum is the only sub-forum that was set up after the initial setting up of the Forum, and this view-setting was never set up for "never disappear".
