kh7 - October 27, 2006 04:14 PM (GMT)
Hi all, this is just to let you all know that someone put the whole of Blavatsky's Collected Writings online at: Blavatsky's Collected Writings

[hope you don't mind a repost, but this is such major news]

kh7 - December 30, 2006 07:59 PM (GMT)
just bumping this up, because they are back online! [thanks Nick / Nicholas]

Hi,

I check up on this forum roughly once a month - so thinking of you wasn't that hard. I learned about them being back up on this forum - all I did was convey that info in this thread as well.

Anyhow, Happy New Year!

Hi everybody!

There is now a URL just for the writings.

http://collectedwritings.net

(no www).

Hi everybody!

There is now a URL just for the writings.

http://collectedwritings.net

(no www).

But this is not direct, it goes through Caldwell's Blavatsky archives. The one first given goes direct to Ton's site.

Nicholas,

The re-direct from collectedwritings.not to tonh.net seems to be seamless. I do not see any difference in the quality of service from either URL. Do you?

Nope, except Caldwell has these alternating buy & read buttons and his page is too cluttered for my taste.

From a professional webdesign perspective I tend to agree with Nicholas on this: any URL that only has links to other domains deserves to be ignored and not linked to.

Daniel has done this decently - but the very genre of this type of website where there is a domain merely for the purpose of getting links is of a type that ads very little to the web.

Hi everybody!

Nicholas has announced that Ton den Hartog, the creator of this Collected Writings webpage has passed away. Please take a look at this webpage, before it disappears.

I must say that I am completely baffled by Katinka's various comments. I simply do not understand her reasoning behind these statements.

I guess using Katinka's rationale the following websites are of no use whatsoever and should be ignored:

http://religiouslinks.net
http://theosophylinks.net
http://blavatskyletters.net
http://secretdoctrine.net
http://voiceofthesilence.net
http://mahatmaletters.net
http://exploringtheunknown.net
http://blavatskybooks.net
http://theosophyonthe.net

and many more.

In a future email I will detail the various reasons for having such sites. I would have thought at least some of the useful features of these sites would have been fairly obvious.

As far as the usefulness of http://collectedwritings.net and its clutter appearance, I will also later point out several useful features of this page too.

I will also be modifying this collectedwritings gateway page to accomodate the possibility of the the cw site disappearing because of the death of the website owner.

David,

If Ton den Hartog's online copy disappears due to his passing away, will you still have a copy on the Internet?

Hi everybody!

Nicholas forwarded this e-mail to me. It came from Katinka. She has now put the Collected Writings on her website. Here is the e-mail:

"...I put the Blavatsky Collected Writings online again at:

http://www.katinkahesselink.net/blavatsky/

...I wonder if you would help me out a bit here: can you get the word out of the new location of the online version of the C.W.? It would really help if as many websites as possible changed their links from pointing to Ton's website, to mine.

Beyond that it would be great if Daniel Caldwell, theos talk and the theosophy forum would be informed....

Best wishes,

Katinka"

As I type, I have corrected the major links and pointed them
to Katinka's new webpages on CollectedWritings.

I am correcting all links to the following site:

http://collectedwritings.net

And this page is indexed and comes fairly high when you do a search on
google under Blavatsky.

One of the advantages of this site address is that any time you want to go to this collected writiings site, you need only type in your browser

collectedwritings.net

and hit the enter key and voila you are there. I use it all the time when I am doing research or giving talks about online resources.

Access is also available at:

http://collectedwritings.info

and

http://collectedwritings.org

And we have a whole host of other easy access links at:

http://theosophyonthe.net

All of these and other important links can be found on the main page of my Blavatsky Study Center / Blavatsky archives homepage at:

http://blavatskyarchives.com
http://blavatskystudycenter.com

And the easiest way to go to my homepage is simply to type in the browser address bar:

hpb.cc

hit enter and

you are there at my homepage at http://hpb.cc

And I have also added on my homepage a direct link to Nick the Pilot's valuable study guide to the Stanzas of Dzyan.

I should also add that I am adding more valuable old Blavatsky documents to our Blavatsky Archives in the very near future. The first reprint will be announced soon.

Daniel

I also see that if I type the words:

collected writings

in my browser's address bar

I get the collectedwritings.net

page showing up on the results page.

And if you do a google search by typing:

collected writings

the http://collectedwritings.net

page comes up very high in the results.

See:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=collected+writings

Also typing:

collected writings in the Yahoo! search engine also gives the same results.

See:

http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=collected...op=mss&ei=UTF-8

Or typing:

Blavatsky collected

into Yahoo! gives:

http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oGkl...-t-501&ei=UTF-8

Interesting.

This is what I was aiming for when I designed this page and these domains more than one year ago.

Hope these long search links work!!!

Wow, Daniel, that is great. I am glad to see you doing so much work to keep the Collected Writings available to everyone.
