According to
Annie Besant, Hinduism was the religion of the first sub-race of the fifth root-race, which was the India. Zoroastrianism was the religion of the second sub-race of the fifth root-race, which was the Iran (Persia). Also according to Besant, Zoroaster was part of the Brotherhood, holding the same great position in Persia that the Manu had held in India earlier.
Zoroastrianism has many concepts in common with Theosophy:
- Stars are are not dead matter but living intelligences, moving in changeless order, guided by perfect wisdom and unswerving Will 55
- The scripture called Zed is said to compare to Zenar (Senzar) in Theosophy 58
- God and man are not separated as in Christianity 63
- A universal Hierarchy exists 63
- The Absolute is the source of Ahura-Mazda, the head of the manifested Universe 66
- Ahura-Mazda is revealed as three-fold, similar to the Theosophical Triple-Logos 63
- The doctrine of the unmanifested One Existence 70
- The emanation of Ahura-Mazda ffrom the Absolute, as light emanates from the Darkness 70
- The terms reality and non-reality 72
- Sat and Asat (reality and non-reality). The One duality unfolds so that the many can manifest. Life is ever pouring forth from the One reality. The other (non-reality) is the material side which belongs to form, and which is ever breaking up, so that life may go on to a higher experession. The destruction of form means the passing of life into higher conditions -- this is not the work of an evil power, but the liberation of the soul, and therefore part of the divine manifestation of the universe. 72-73
- The One reality manifests in three aspects, followed by seven presiding Spirits (same as the higher Three and lower Seven of Theosophy) 74
- Fire is the symbol of the Absolute 79
